Romantic Book and Wine List

So, I am kind of a wine-o. I love wine tasting with my friends and discovering new and unique flavors! I also love enjoying a glass with my favorite shows and especially with my favorite books.

I  recently spent a few days in Indiana at a good friend’s wedding where there was plenty of wine flowing and talk of romance. This lead me to a great idea- pair romantic fiction novels with the wine that suits them best! So, that’s exactly what I did for you! Here are three romantic novels inspired by wedding season and the wines to match! Hope you enjoy!

The Engagements is a rich, layered, and exciting novel that takes place over the span of a hundred years. It captures the intimacies of four unique marriages while tracing the history and the rise of the diamond in America, and how these iconic sparkling stones have come to signify our commitment and love!

While reading this book, try a Meritage red blend! According to Meritage Alliance, a Meritage is classified as “a blend of two or more of the red “noble” Bordeaux varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and the rarer St. Macaire, Gros Verdot and Carmenère.” You will find complex layered flavors of berries, vanilla, and clove! A perfect blend of sweet and elegant to match a sweet and elegant story! Try this one!

Described as a modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice, Eligible is the fourth novel of the Austen Project series. This entertaining, and sharply witty retelling of a classic Jane Austen novel, tells the story of The Bennett sisters who return to their childhood home to discover it in shambles. With her daughters back home, Mrs. Bennett only has one thing on her mind: to marry them off! Especially Jane, who is turning forty soon.

When I finally get around to reading this one, I’m definitely going to pair it with a Riesling! A lovely fruity flavor of crisp apples and a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. Nothing will go better with this witty, sassy, and sweet novel! Try this one!

Love Overdue is the story of DJ, a sensible librarian who chooses to live a practical life. She is hired by a small library in rural Kansas where she is devoted to improving the library as much as she is devoted to her prim and proper look. But, lo and behold, the young man her land-lady is attempting to set her up with is the guy she had a fling with on a crazy spring break trip! The only problem- he doesn’t recognize her!

This book was a fun read! Next time I read it I will definitely read it with a Chardonnay! Flavors of pear and pineapple with spice and refreshing acidity. A spicy and sexy novel with a refreshing twist! Try this one!
