Indie Book Review: Melody’s Key

Thank you to Dallas Coryell for letting me read his first romance novel in exchange for an honest review!

“His eyes settled on her…piercing green embers of flame that revealed the ferocity of his pain and passion, yet still shrouded him under veils of ever deepening mystery that made every ounce of her ache to unravel him.” -Dallas Coryell, Melody’s Key

Tegan Lockwood and her family own Lockwood Holiday, a bed and breakfast in the small town of Lymington. Although she has put her life on hold to stay with her family and help out, Tegan is proud to do so. When Mason Keane turns up at their doorstep, Tegan’s life is turned upside down. Mason, a famous musician, has a reputation for being a womanizer and Tegan wants nothing to do with him. But, the more Mason and Tegan get to know each other, they realize that they’re both struggling with demons from their pasts and are eventually able to help each other begin to grow as individuals and begin to develop a deep and intense relationship.

My Thoughts:

Coryell does an incredible job of developing complex and likable characters with fascinating back stories. There was no “love at first sight” or “I love you, I hate you” moments. It was just real, slow, believable, build-able sexual tension. Coryell’s writing is very descriptive and just as complex as his characters appear to be. I’m not going to lie. I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would! I’m not much of a romance reader, but this was a great adult romance novel that pulled you in very effectively. I would definitely recommend this beautiful novel to anyone who enjoys romance or just needs to read a good story that will allow you to escape for awhile!

About Dallas Coryell: “Dallas Coryell is a musician and author residing deep in the untamed wilds of Michigan, USA, where he desperately attempts to assign meaning to his world through bouts of maniacal creative catharsis and pitifully doomed hopeless romantic fantasies. All of the songs written by the characters in this novel are real and can be viewed on the author’s fledgling YouTube channel:”

My Rating: 4/5
